CHOMP!!

I was attacked by a Golden Retriever when I was just a kid. Retrievers are usually pretty calm dogs, so when this one attacked me everyone was a little shocked. As it turns out, my brother and cousins were being rowdy and getting the dog pissed, so when I jumped the fence into its backyard, it attacked me. He sunk his teeth into my hip and dragged me around the backyard for a while until my Uncle removed his jaw. It was terrifying. I remember my Uncle picking me up and bringing me into the bathroom to inspect the damage. The dog broke the skin, but nothing horrible. I survived.

A few years later, I was walking with my Brother on his paper route when I was attacked again by a Siberian Husky. Again, not usually a mean dog, but I figured he must have thought I looked like a steak. Like those cartoons when Daffy is SO hungry, that Foghorn looks like a big cooked chicken? No harm done, it just re-kindled my fear of big dogs no matter what breed.

Fast forward to 2007. My Mother and her boyfriend Jack have been in Florida for about a month now enjoying her time off from work. She went into Target on Tuesday and walked by a German Shepherd assistance dog. It was not assisting a blind person, but rather, looked as though he may be in training. As she walked by him, the dog barked and chomped down on her arm. She didn't scream or yell, she just froze. But the owner of the dog didn't. He grabbed that dog and ran out of the store. Jack ran after him, but he got into a dark van and sped off. My Mother was still frozen in the aisle when a worker came over to inspect the damage. The dog's teeth had gone right through her skin, and she was bleeding. She asked the witness if she provoked the dog at all, and he told her that she did nothing. The security camera's picked up most of the incident, except for a license plate. Apparently, you can see the man's face clearly as he came in with the dog, and as he left. BUT, no license plate is visible.

She went to the hospital and had the bite irrigated (is that the right spelling Dr. Carr?) and was given antibiotics to fight off any possible infection. She survived, and per her attorney, she cannot fight this in court, as Target does allow assistance dogs into their stores, even if the dog's master is a stupid cowardly mother fucker who can see perfectly.

I will stick with cats. They may shed, they may be bitchy, they may even bite... but they don't think I smell OR LOOK like steak.

I'll drink to this...

"Bike Path Rapist" Suspect In Custody

Police say they had their eyes on Altemio C. Sanchez as a suspect in the Buffalo "Bike Path Rapist" case for some time. Their careful surveillance paid off on January 13, 2007. Detectives watched Sanchez leave a Buffalo-area restaurant. After he left, police went in and obtained Sanchez's DNA off a glass he'd been sipping from. Within 24 hours, police say, DNA test results told them that Sanchez was the "Buffalo Bike Path Rapist." Detectives say the DNA matches evidence found at the crime scenes of three murders and eight rapes.

Police believe Sanchez has lived and worked in the Buffalo area for the past two decades. They aren't saying what may have led him to this kind of violence, but they are saying the community can rest easier knowing that this alleged predator is behind bars.

Police arrested Sanchez during a traffic stop on Monday morning, January 15, 2007 without incident. Detectives say Sanchez has a prior record -- he was arrested on charges of patronizing a prostitute in 1991 and 1999.

What does this mean? It means I am 0.8 pounds away from my secondary goal, and buying very cute undies. :)

I am back in my size 2 jeans, back in my XS shirts, and back to my little girl bra. Oh well, sorry Benzin.

Time to breathe...

Sorry it has been so LONG!!! I have been the rehearsal stage manager for a show called Familiar Strangers which is playing at Musicalfare Theatre. It has some amazingly talented dancers in it, with an artistic and interpretive flair. I like this kind of show because you have to think and, you get to make your own decisions. While the writer/choreographer/director Michael Walline has some very solid ideas floating in his head about what everything means, I think the best part of the show is how much he has given the audience to feel for themselves. I obviously know what the show represents, and what every dance movement means but even then, I like to make my own artistic representations.

The show is really cool, and every aspect of the show is worthy of a full house. So, go see it if you can. Not only will you get to see some fierce dancers, but you will also more than likely have a 45 minute discussion about the show the whole car ride home.
