27 weeks and 4 days...

This is kind of silly to be posting this late as I will be putting up another post in a few short days, but anyhoo. We are in our last week of the 2nd trimester. As of Thursday we will be in our 3rd and final trimester and the baby will be here before we know it. Here is what has been happening with the baby this past week.

This week, Baby Benzin weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with his/her legs extended. Baby is sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing its eyes, and perhaps even sucking its fingers. With more brain tissue developing, Baby Benzin's brain is very active now. While the lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if the baby were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on.
